I've been behind a camera for 34 years. I have realized the thing I do behind the lens,

• reading a moment,

• trusting what I see,

• navigating what I can't control,

is the same thing I do in ClarityLAB sessions and workshops.

I help people see what they couldn't see alone,

and together we move from there.

That noticing became Creative Adaptive Intelligence. The intelligence already in you for navigating uncertainty without abandoning yourself.

Photography is where I first learned it.

The Front Porch Project is one of the clearest receipts I have of reading a moment, trusting what I see, and navigating what I can't control. In March 2020, when everything closed, I co-founded it with Aimee Supp. There was no plan, no playbook, and no way to know if it would work. We just read the moment and moved. In three months, 27 photographers documented 4,044 families across Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and the Northshore, returning $1.28 million to the local economy. Families got a portrait when everything else was closed. Photographers kept working. A community held together on porches. That is what happens when you don't wait for certainty to move.

I'm also a three-time published author, a speaker, and an improv performer. Improv is where I utilize my skills at reading a moment, trusting what I see, navigating what I can't control. One client recently described my work as chaos into coherence without losing the human part. That's the sentence I keep coming back to, because it names the thing I'm doing across all of it. (And Michelle is both a photography client and a ClarityLAB client.)
