In my talk, The Climate Inside Us, I’ll share a story I never thought I’d tell—the moment I quietly walked away from the creative career I thought would define me, and the unexpected clarity that found me in the stillness that followed. I’ll reflect on the difference between disappearing and healing, between performance and presence—and how a single text message during the early days of the pandemic pulled me back into purpose through what became one of Baton Rouge’s most impactful grassroots movements: The Front Porch Project.
This talk weaves together themes of burnout, creative renewal, and what I now call Creative Adaptive Intelligence—a way of responding to life not with a perfect plan, but with clarity, curiosity, and self-leadership. I’ll explore the powerful parallel between our inner sustainability and the climate we’re all trying to heal, asking the deeper question: How can we lead change in the world if we’re still running on empty inside ourselves?
