Flipping the Script on Fear
Lets just start here and say it …
You wouldn’t have the idea if you weren’t capable of bringing it to life.
That whisper of inspiration? That moment when a bold idea sparks, and you feel the pull of possibility? That idea belongs to you.
But almost immediately, the other voice enters. The ego, the doubt, the internal “protector” that warns:
"What if this doesn’t work? Don’t you remember last time? Maybe this isn’t for you."
Sound familiar?
What if I told you that your ego isn’t the villain of your story—but your ride-or-die?
Your Ego: The Messenger, Not the Competition
I used to think my ego was a saboteur, whispering doubts and fears designed to keep me stuck. But when I started flipping the script, I realized something profound:
👉 The ego isn’t stopping you—it’s showing you the edge of your comfort zone.
👉 The ego isn’t telling you not to do it—it’s highlighting what you deeply desire, yet fear the most.
Instead of thinking, I shouldn’t do this, ask:
Is this something I actually desire?
Am I scared because it’s truly wrong for me—or because it matters deeply?
What is my ego actually warning me about? Is there a way to do this that feels aligned instead of overwhelming?
I dive deeper into this in my ThrivUNITY talk, "Your Ego: Your Ride or Die." You can listen here:
Turning Fear Into Fuel
Creative Adaptive Intelligence (CAI) is the ability to take your lived experiences—both joyful and painful—and use them as strategic insights for growth.
Instead of letting fear stop you, CAI helps you translate resistance into adaptability.
Fear doesn’t mean stop—it means learn from this before moving forward.
Doubt isn’t a roadblock—it’s a recalibration tool.
Patterns repeat until we choose to see the lesson—so let’s start seeing them.
The C.A.L.M. Framework: Navigating Fear with Intention
One of the most powerful ways to navigate this internal dialogue is through the C.A.L.M. Framework, which aligns perfectly with #ThrivLIFE:
Clarity: What is your ego actually saying? Is it truly saying no or just not this way? Recognizing this difference shifts your perspective.
Adaptive: Instead of resisting fear, use it to find a better, less overwhelming approach. Your ego isn’t shutting you down—it’s showing you that there’s a more aligned way forward.
Leadership: Fear doesn’t make decisions—you do. Leading yourself means choosing aligned action instead of retreating into self-doubt.
Momentum: Small, intentional steps in the right direction create the confidence you’re seeking. Momentum is built through action, not overthinking.
From Fear to Flow: Learning from the Patterns
I’ve experienced this firsthand. I remember a time in my business when I hesitated to raise my prices, worried that no one would pay for my value. I had proof of past struggles, moments when money felt scarce, times when I undersold myself just to get the booking.
But then I asked myself: What if I’m looking at this fear the wrong way?
Instead of saying I can’t charge more because people won’t pay, what if I said I now understand who my work is truly for?
The shift happened when I let my past experiences inform my future decisions, not dictate them.
When I applied Creative Adaptive Intelligence, I realized that my past fears around pricing weren’t stopping me—they were guiding me toward a better way of structuring my value both for myself and for my clients.
Fear as a Teacher, Not a Jailor
Think about a recurring struggle in your life—maybe it’s confidence, pricing, speaking up, or making bold moves in your career. Now ask:
What lesson is this trying to teach me?
How can I adapt instead of resist?
What if this fear is actually a map leading me toward clarity?
Choosing the Light Without Rejecting the Dark
Fear will always be there. But so will your wisdom.
Instead of battling your doubts, get curious about them.
Instead of fearing failure, learn from it before it happens.
Instead of suppressing past experiences, use them as fuel for your next move.
“Your ego is not your competition. It’s your messenger. It’s not telling you to stop—it’s asking you to find a better way.” - Jenn Ocken
So the next time your ego speaks up, don’t shut it down.
Listen. Laugh with it. Invite it along for the ride.
Because it’s not here to stop you—it’s here to guide you toward your next evolution.
